How to make Mickey or Minnie Mouse dome head cake topper

Step one: Colour fondant with pink or red gel colours, depends if you want to make a Minnie or Mickey head. (Tip: always use gel colourant or use pre mix tinted fondant)
Step 2: Using a pizza cutter and a ruler as 'n guide cut 2 rectangular shapes.

Step 3: Put something that is round and big enough in the middle of rectangular, so that the bow can form a hole. (I used a rolling pin).   Brush one side of the fondant with water.

Step 4: Fold the rectangular from one end over the pin to the other, and pinch the ends together.  Let it stand on their sides to dry out with some cotton or paper towel beneath so that it can maintain its form. Water together.
Step 5: Cut a smaller rectangular piece, big enough to cover the bow.
Step 6: Water around the bow.

Step 7: Place smaller strip around center and bring together at the back.
Step 8: Colour fondant with black gel colourant or use pre mix fondant. Roll out.
Step 9: Cut out 3 circles with cookie cutter. Big enough for the ears.
Step 10: There are 3 ways to do the ears. You can cut 4 circles and place two onto each other or 3 and cut one in half to place over the toothpicks, just to cover the back or you can cut out two thick circles and press the toothpicks inside.

Step 11: Smear the back of the circle with water and press the toothpicks so that it can stay in position. Put the other half on top or if you cut out a full circle for the back put it on top of this one.

This is what you will need to make the dome: Black fondant, rolling pin, icing or cornstarch for dusting the surface and balloon .
Step 12: Roll out fondant and cut a circle big enough to reflect the head of Mickey or Minnie.

Step 13: Put circle over balloon that you balance on a bowl.  But please note that you must smear the balloon with margarine or butter.  Place ears carefully on the dome and make small holes  where the ears must go in later. When it is dry you can pop the balloon.  Be careful not to prick the balloon with the toothpicks, just make small holes so that the toothpicks can go in easy at a later stage.

And this is how the dome head looks when finished.
